(We Keep A) Rhythm

As permanent as ink,
as steady as a faulty faucet leaking droplets on a sink,
as certain as bad weather,
as simple as a 4 year-old's conception of forever,

we keep a rhythm.
As each moment links
a chain of day-to-day
we'll never break away
from the rhythm.

As vital as a heartbeat,
as natural as walking on two feet,
as imminent as sleep,
as infinite as the counting of imaginary sheep,

we keep a rhythm.
As each moment links
a chain of day-to-day
we'll never break away
from the rhythm.

Are they really lives we lead,
or lives that lead us on
and on
and on...

We keep a rhythm.
